The 2017 Road Glide is going to be Harley-Davidson’s first new Milwaukee Eight model to be launched in India. To be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), the Road Glide will be positioned below the Street Glide Special in the company’s Touring range.
The Road Glide has always enjoyed a cult status among hardcore Harley tourers, thanks to the frame-mounted fairing and other touring-focussed attributes. The raised handlebars and a low seat offer a comfortable riding seating position perfect for long hauls. It also comes with a premium infotainment system with a 4.3-inch screen, ABS and a smart security system among other creature comforts.
Propelling the Road Glide’s 370 kilogram bulk is Harley-Davidson’s latest powertrain, the Milwaukee Eight 107. Rated at 151Nm of torque, the Milwaukee Eight 107 gets a 45-degree V-twin configuration with four valves per cylinder. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The Road Glide rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear cast aluminium wheels.
The Harley-Davidson Road Glide is offered in four paint schemes – black, blue, red and silver. Being a CBU, the Road Glide will attract heavy custom duties which are sure to push the bike’s sticker price to around Rs 29 lakh. With such a price tag, it will share the market space with other heavyweight touring motorcycles like the Indian Chief Vintage and the Honda Goldwing. We can expect it to be launched here before the end of this year.
