Electrification is Harley-Davidson’s top agenda right now and the company is briskly moving towards it. It was recently that we reported about the company having showcased two electric bike concepts at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2019 in Las Vegas. Now, two new videos by Harley-Davidson give us a glimpse of these concepts being ridden, just the way they should be.
One of the two models is an MTB (mountain bike) with an electric motor. Previously, we could just acquire the stills of the motorcycle. Now though, the video shows Jacko Strong, an X Games champion, riding it down a snowy inclination in the mountains, popping wheelies and sliding along the terrain. The rider talks about its vigorous torque delivery.
Meanwhile, in yet another video, you can see Jack Mitrani, an X Games host, pottering around comfortably at low speeds aboard the electric scooter concept which is meant for urban riding. The tall handlebar, wide seat and front-set footpegs make for a comfortable riding position. Speaking about the scooter, Jack says it is smooth and silent while being torquey and light weight which helps in manoeuvring it.
As of now, there are no reports about when the urban electric scooter and the electric MTB will hit the production line. Harley-Davidson is ready for the electric era with the LiveWire which has been priced at USD 29,799 (approx Rs 20.89 lakhs) in the US and deliveries are expected to start by September 2019. It is likely to enter into the Indian market by sometime in 2020.
