Harley-Davidson continues to maintain its lead in the premium two-wheeler market in India. Having sold 4,241 motorcycles, the American manufacturer captured a 60 per cent market share in 2016.
Harley-Davidson is one of the most popular premium two-wheeler manufacturers in the country. Harley-Davidson motorcycles enjoy cult status in India and the widespread dealer network has significantly contributed to its success here. Harley-Davidson currently has 26 dealerships spread across the country, and the company plans to add four new dealerships this year.
While Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh continue to be the biggest markets, Harley-Davidson claims that there has been a significant increase in demand in tier 2 cities and rural areas. The company expects these markets to play an important role in helping it maintain sales momentum in 2017.
