The Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special has been launched in India for Rs 29.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Designed and created as a part of Project Rushmore, the 2015 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special is the American bike maker’s full cruiser and as the name suggests is a special version of the standard bike.
This 2015 Special Edition retains most of the design cues from the previous model. It features a Boom! Box infotainment system that has a 6.5-inch touchscreen and two speakers which sit on the front ‘batwing’ fairing. Other new features on this modern interpretation of the classic American cruiser include dual halogen head lamps, aluminium wheels and reflex anti-lock braking system which in commonman’s parlance is an electronically linked ABS system.
The 2015 Street Glide Special is powered by a 1.7-litre V-Twin mill that produces 138Nm of torque. The wheels have been mated to the engine via a chain drive and a six-speed sequential gearbox.
The Street Glide Special is being brought to the Indian market via the CBU route. It competes with the Indian Chieftain in terms of price but is cheaper than it by almost Rs 4 lakh. The bike is available at all Harley dealers from today onwards.
