Harley-Davidson has launched the Street Rod in India at Rs 5.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Dealers have started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 15,000, with deliveries expected to commence in the last week of April.
The Street Rod is the latest addition to Harley-Davidson’s Dark Custom line-up. Visually, the flyscreen, flat drag-style handlebar, short tail section and the new alloy wheels give the Street Rod the sporty-appeal of a street bike. Based on the Street 750, the Street Rod is propelled by the same 749cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. However, it gets a larger air box, a new throttle body, revised cylinder heads with high-lift camshafts and a stubby exhaust. Even the compression ratio has been increased, resulting in a higher output of 70bhp and 64Nm.
Complementing Street Rod’s sporty character are the new beefier 43mm inverted front forks and the gas-charged rear suspension. Braking hardware has also been upgraded with dual 300mm discs at the front. ABS is offered as standard. The Street Rod is available in three paint schemes – olive gold, matte grey and black. It shares market space with the Benelli TNT 600i, Ducati Scrambler and the Triumph Street Twin.
