Harley-Davidson is going to launch the new MY 2018 range of cruisers in India on 12 October. Dealerships have already started accepting bookings for these bikes, with the token amount starting at Rs 30,000.
Last month, Harley-Davidson unveiled the MY 2018 updates for its range. While the Street, Sportster and the Road Glide range were merely updated with new paint schemes, the CVO and the Softail range benefitted from significant mechanical upgrades. The new eight-model Softail range now features a brand new frame, swingarm and cycle parts along with Milwaukee-Eight V-twin powertrains. The CVO range on the other hand, features new Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine along with the addition of a special edition model.
We can expect Harley-Davidson to launch only a handful of the popular models among these in India. While the booking amount for the Street range starts at Rs 30,000, dealerships are charging a premium of Rs 1 lakh for the Softail range. The other premium models like the Road Glide and the Street Glide command half their price as the booking amount, while a CVO can be booked only after making the full payment. Apart from the Street range, which is locally manufactured in Gurgaon, the rest of the Harley-Davidson range is imported as completely built units.
