Harley-Davidson is all set to launch the new MY2018 range of Softail cruisers in India tomorrow. Bookings for these bikes have already commenced across dealerships for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.
The Softail family now consists of the Street Bob, Fat Boy, Low Rider, Deluxe, Breakout, Softail Slim, Fat Bob and the Heritage Classic. Of these, we expect Harley to launch only a handful of the popular models in India. The American manufacturer unveiled the 2018 model year for this range just last month.
Powering the updated Softail range is a new Milwaukee-Eight 107 and Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin engines. These feature internal counter-balancers that reduce engine vibration. The Milwaukee-Eight 107 is a 1745cc engine delivering 151Nm of torque, while the Milwaukee-Eight 114 has a displacement of 1745cc and churns out 168Nm.
Other improvements include LED headlamps, more efficient electrical system, new fuel tanks, new instrument consoles, USB charging port, keyless ignition and a security system. International prices for the Softail range begin at GBP 12,295 (Rs 10.11 lakhs) for the Street Bob, going all the way up to GBP 17,995 (Rs 14.8 lakhs) for the Heritage Classic.
