Harley-Davidson has announced to launch 50 bikes in the next five years. This new strategy is a result of falling sales for the company in its home country as well as in some of its international markets.
Matt Levatich, CEO, Harley-Davidson revealed this plan last week after revealing the annual 2016 earnings. While the top honcho didn't reveal anything about the 50 new models they are planning, he mentioned about the success of their projects like the Livewire, Project Rushmore and the Milwaukee Eight engine. The production version of the Livewire electric bike could be a part of the future range. These 50 models will also include a lot of updated bikes from the current range.
The Milwaukee-based plans to aggressively built dealerships in US and in other countries. The target set by the company is 200 dealerships by 2020. Harley-Davidson will put a lot of focus on its riding academy. It believes their next set of customers will come from their riding academy and it is important to have a less powerful and affordable Harley like the Street 500, which is also made in India.
India is a very big market for the American manufacturer. So it is obvious that the company would launch most of the upcoming bikes in India that will help it gain market share and new customers.
