Harley-Davidson to launch Street Rod in India

Harley-Davidson plans to add a new model to its Dark Custom line-up in India, called the Street Rod. A spin-off from the Street 750, the Street Rod has been styled to resemble drag racing motorcycles. 

The Street Rod has strayed away from its host’s laid-back persona to adopt a sporty character. It gets a taller windscreen, straight handlebars in place of sweptback bars, bar-end mirrors, lightweight fenders and a shorter end can with a louder exhaust note. 

Under the skin is a liquid-cooled V-twin ‘Revolution X’ engine. While it shares the bore, stroke and displacement with the Street 750, the Street Rod has been tuned to deliver 64Nm of torque at 4000rpm as opposed to the Street 750’s 59Nm at 3750rpm. The higher output is achieved thanks to a higher compression ratio. The brake setup has been upgraded with dual discs up front. The rear suspension now features gas-charged dampers. 

The Street Rod will be offered in three paint schemes – black, gold and grey. As the Street Rod has already been added to Harley-Davidson’s Indian website, we can expect it to be launched over the next few weeks. Positioned above the Street 750, it will share the market space with the Hyosung ST7, Benelli TNT 600GT and the Kawasaki Versys 650.
