Harley-Davidson unveils 2017 Road King Special

Harley-Davidson has unveiled their latest creation – the 2017 Road King Special – a Harley with almost no chrome. That’s right.

The American manufacturer has replaced that shiny finish with a lot of black paint. The headlight assembly, front forks, wheels, exhaust and even the engine cover have been completely blacked out. The windscreen has been removed to make way for the nine-inch ‘Tall Ape’ handlebar. The design brief for this motorcycle was to make it look longer and lower. So in order to make this happen, Harley has equipped the bike with stretched saddlebags. In fact, the company has lowered the bike by using the low-profile rear suspension that is on the Street Glide Special and the Road Glide Special.

Powering this 371kg motorcycle is a 1750cc ‘Milwaukee Eight’ V-Twin engine that generates 10 per cent more torque compared to the older engine from the Road King. The company says they have also worked on the refinement of this motor, and that will enhance the riding experience.

The Road King Special is available in four colours – dark blue, black, gold and red. With this bike, the American manufacturer wants to focus more on the younger generation and that is why the chrome has made way for the blacked-out paint schemes.

The 2017 Road King special should come to India as well. Harley-Davidson has been bullish about the Indian market and has tried to offer most of the bikes that are sold globally.
