- Will be the most affordable Harley-Davidson in India
- Will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda H’ness CB 350
- Likely to be priced around Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
Harley-Davidson is all set to launch its most affordable, entry-level motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson X400, in India today, 3 July, 2023. The X440 has been jointly developed by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, and the latter will manufacture it locally in India.
The Harley-Davidson X440 will primarily compete against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda H’ness CB350 but will face competition from the upcoming Triumph Speed 400. The motorcycle features a modern-retro design language and the styling is inspired by the Harley-Davidson XR1200.
The motorcycle's design elements include a circular LED headlamp, a round fully-digital instrument cluster, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a stubby tail section. Other highlights include a flat handlebar, machined alloy wheels, and round LED indicators.
Although the engine specifications haven't been revealed yet, we know that the Harley-Davidson X440 will use a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. Harley-Davidson recently revealed the motorcycle's exhaust note, which indicates that it will be a long-stroke torque-heavy motor. We expect it to produce around 30bhp and 35Nm.
Coming to its cycle parts, the X440 will feature upside-down front forks and twin shock absorbers at the back. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends, while the safety net is likely to include a dual-channel ABS as standard. We expect the Harley-Davidson X440 to be priced under Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
