Harley-Davidson India launched its latest offering the X440 in India recently. It marks the brand’s most affordable and smallest-capacity motorcycle for our market and has been developed with Hero MotoCorp. Now, Harley-Davidson X440 is offered in three variants: Denim, Vivid and S.
All three models get the same design, engine and hardware too for the most part. But there are certain areas where the variants differ. So, in this story, we’ll explain to you all three variants of the Harley-Davidson X440.
Denim
The Harley-Davidson X440 Denim is the base model and comes painted in Mustard Denim colour. It gets the same LED headlight as the remaining models but gets stickers on the fuel tank instead of the 3D logo like the S trim. Moreover, it rides on spoke wheels with tube-type tyres instead of alloy wheels with tubeless rubber. Harley-Davidson has offered a TFT screen with the X440 Denim but it doesn’t get Bluetooth compatibility as it’s exclusive to the S variant. Lastly, its asking price is Rs. 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it the most affordable variant of the three.
Vivid
The second variant in the X440 line is the Vivid. It’s priced at Rs. 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it Rs. 20,000 more expensive than the Denim. The X440 Vivid rides on alloy wheels but it too gets the stickers instead of the 3D badging. That said, the X440 Vivid’s wheels don’t get a diamond-cut finish. It too misses out on smartphone connectivity just like the Denim model. Harley-Davidson offers the X440 Vivid in two colours: Dark Silver and Thick Red.
S
The X440 S is the top-spec trim and demands a price of Rs. 2.69 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it Rs. 40,000 more expensive than the base model and Rs. 20,000 costlier than the Vivid variants. This one gets all the bells and whistles which includes the Matte Black paint scheme with orange highlights, a TFT with smartphone connectivity that gives you access to turn-by-turn navigation, music control, accept and reject calls, phone battery status, missed call alert, message alert and network strength. It also benefits from bronze-finished engine casing and diamond-cut finish alloy wheels.
As mentioned earlier, the three options share the same 440cc, single-cylinder, oil and air-cooled engine with an output of 27bhp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox. Even the USD front forks, dual rear shocks along with the front and rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS are common.
