- Harley-Davidson unveils Pan America, its first adventure motorcycle
- Powered by a new 1250cc, 60-degree ‘Revolution Max’ engine
- Production version will be unveiled next year as a 2021 model
We have known for a long time that Harley-Davidson is undergoing a revolution of sorts. This was exemplified by its first ever adventure motorcycle, Pan America, which was announced in July last year. After over a year now, the motorcycle has been unveiled in all its glory at the 2019 EICMA show. However, the ADV is still in its prototype form and the production version will be revealed next year as a 2021 model.
While we already had a few details about its engine, the American manufacturer has now given more dope about this mill, including the power figures. It is powered by the new 1250cc, liquid-cooled motor which Harley calls the ‘Revolution Max’. It features a 60-degree V-twin layout which was first seen on the V-Rod power cruiser. On the contrary, most of the Harleys currently get 45-degree-inclined powerplant. The new Revolution Max is capable of churning out 143bhp of max power and 122Nm of peak torque.
Typical of an adventure tourer, the Pan American boasts of an upright stance with a tall windscreen, knuckle guards, radiator guards and an upswept exhaust canister. As for the cycle parts, the overall package looks adventure-ready with a long travel suspension setup comprising of inverted forks-monoshock combination while the spoke wheels are shod with knobby Michelin tyres. Braking hardware has been sourced from Brembo with twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear. Furthermore, it’s also expected to pack a host of electronic aids to match up with the tech-laden competition.
After making its entry into the market, the Harley-Davidson Pan America will compete against other full-size ADVs including BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, Triumph Tiger 1200,Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.
