- Hero has already trademarked the Mavrick 440 name
- Will use a 440cc, oil-cooled motor
- Likely to be priced under Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom)
Hero MotoCorp's upcoming 440cc bike, co-developed in association with Harley-Davidson, is likely to be named the Mavrick 440. It will use the same 440cc, single-cylinder, long-stroke motor from the X440.
What makes us say that? Well, Hero MotoCorp recently sent invites for its upcoming 440cc bike in India, and BikeWale’s invite had the letter ‘R’. Likewise, other publications received invites with the letters M, V, R, and I. Hero recently trademarked two brand names in India, Hurikan 440 and Mavrick 440, for its upcoming new motorcycles. It is obvious from the above letters that the new bike is likely to be christened as Hero Mavrick 440.
According to our sources, the Mavrick 440 is expected to carry a different styling, which could be on the lines of a roadster. It could also use a revised subframe. Meanwhile, it will be powered by the same 440cc, oil-cooled motor that also powers the Harley-Davidson X440. However, the engine could get a slightly different tuning.
The new Hero 440cc bike will be launched in India on 22 January, and we will be riding it in February 2024. As far as the pricing goes, we expect it to carry a sub-Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. Besides the Harley-Davidson X440, the Mavrick 440 will also rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda CB350.
