Unveiled almost a year ago, the Hero Dash never made it to the production line in the second quarter of 2014 as previously announced. But looks like Hero MotoCorp has finally decided to launch the scooter in India, as a camouflaged test mule was spied testing near its Manesar facility for the first time.
Hero MotoCorp plans to target the male buyers with the Dash, as over the last few months, there is enough demand for such scooters. It will mainly compete with the Yamaha Ray Z and the TVS Jupiter. Powered by an air-cooled 110cc four stroke engine, the Dash is mechanically identical to the Maestro, as it is powered by the same engine. This 110cc engine churns out 8.4bhp at 7,500rpm and maximum torque of 9.4Nm at 5,750rpm. Looking to enhance its presence in the buzzing scooter segment and stand out from the crowd, Hero has packed quite a few features into the Dash. The standard equipment list includes an LED tail lamp, side stand indicator, USB mobile charger and a service due indicator among others.
The Dash has a kerb weight of 110kg and a fuel tank capacity of 6-litre. The Dash gets drum brakes both in the front and rear, combined with Hero MotoCorp’s integrated braking system. The scooter sports telescopic front forks, and uses 90/90/12 front tyre and 90/90/10 in the rear tyre.
We are expecting that Hero will launch the Dash in the next few months. It will be positioned above the Maestro and will be priced between Rs 53,000 and Rs 57,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
