Hero has finally launched its premium scooter, the Destini 125 in India. It is offered in two variants including LX and VX. While the LX is priced at Rs 54,650, the VX retails at Rs 57,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Destini 125 sports a conventional design language although the VX gets bits of chrome that make it look more premium. The scooter offers features like an external fuel filler cap that can be accessed from the ignition key slot, optional USB charging and the i3S technology for better fuel economy. It gets an analogue speedometer with a small digital unit that displays trip meter, odometer, fuel level as standard.
The scooter is powered by a new 124cc engine that puts out 8.7bhp and 10.2Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a CVT gearbox. Braking is handled by drum brakes on both ends with a combined braking system (CBS) as standard. Meanwhile, suspension duties are done by telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. The Destini 125 rides on 10-inch wheels on both ends shod with tubeless tyres. While the VX variant gets alloy wheels, the LX makes do with steel rims.
Bookings for the scooter will begin across the country in the next few weeks. It faces direct competition from the Suzuki Access 125 and Activa 125 here.
