The Destini 125 is Hero’s first step in the growing 125cc scooter segment. Prices start at Rs 54,650 and go up to Rs 57,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). We recently rode the Destini 125 in and came to like its family scooter character. Here’s a detailed photo gallery of the scooter from the ride.
The Destini 125 is positioned as a family scooter that competes against the Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125.
Hero has garnished the scooter with chrome under the front turn indicators and side panels to add a premium feel.
We rode the top-of-the-line VX variant which is offered with body-coloured mirrors, boot light and USB charging port.
The scooter offers features like an external fuel-filler cap that can opened from the four-in-one ignition key slot.
However, the most distinctive feature is the i3S system that shuts down the engine if left idle for about six-seconds thus conserving fuel.
On the contrary, the Destini 125 misses out on LED-lighting and comes fitted with a conventional headlamp.
The semi-digital instrument cluster looks boring but displays essential information like fuel gauge, trip meter, speed and odometer.
Powering the scooter is a 124cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 8.7bhp and 10.2Nm of torque.
The Destini 125 returned a fuel-efficiency figure of 54.3kmpl and with a tank capacity of 5.5-litres; it has a range of around 300kms.
It gets ample of space on the footboard to place bags and a wide seat with 19-litres of underseat storage.
While the seat is comfy, the suspension is stiff resulting in an unsettled ride over big bumps and undulations.
Braking is done by drum brakes on both ends with the IBS as standard. Hero isn’t offering a disc brake even as option as of now.
