-Gets a reverse LCD
-Has copper chrome inserts
-Pillion grab rail has an integrated backrest
The Hero Destini 125 Xtec is all set to be launched soon but in a recent teaser released by the company on social media channels, the scooter has been partially revealed.
What’s apparent in the pictures is Hero MotoCorp’s new design language. The Destini 125 Xtec looks much more modern and premium than some Hero scooters in the past, especially the previous Destini 125.
The front apron looks large and its width is accentuated by the turn indicators that are mounted on the bottom edges. The scooter has copper-chrome coloured inserts on the front apron as well as the mirrors and that should also add to the appearance of the Destini 125 Xtec. Not to forget that the mirrors themselves are body coloured.
We can see a similar copper-chrome treatment on the side panels as well as the tail section. An interesting design element is the placement of the rear turn indicators which seems to be on an upper deck in comparison to the position of the LED tail light. Hero surely is exploring the possibilities when it comes to design. Other visible details include an LED headlight with an integrated H-shaped DRL and a pillion grabrail with an integrated backrest.
One can also spot the new reverse LCD on the Destini 125 Xtec. It should feature Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, as is the norm these days with scooters in this segment.
Mechanically, there isn’t a lot of detail but word is that the Destini 125 Xtec may be powered by an updated version of the engine in the previous Destini 125. That engine made 9bhp at 7000rpm and 10.4Nm at 5500rpm. Expect changes to these figures in the new scooter.
In terms of the chassis, the scooter seems to be suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. It rides on 12-inch wheels at both ends, and these look like the ones on the Hero Xoom. Braking duties will be undertaken by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The base variants should have an all-drum setup.
We expect the Hero Destini 125 Xtec to be launched soon and bear a price tag between Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000, ex-showroom. The scooter will have its work cut out once it is launched as it will go up against established competition like the TVS Jupiter 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Activa 125.
