Hero MotoCorp has discontinued the Xtreme from the Indian market. The company took this step due to the popularity of the Xtreme Sports.
We spoke to a couple of dealers who confirmed this development. The dealers have stopped taking bookings for the Xtreme as the Xtreme Sports is performing well in the market. Hero priced the Xtreme at Rs 75,025 (ex-showroom New Delhi), whereas the Xtreme Sports is priced at Rs 75,725 (ex-showroom New Delhi). For just Rs 700, the Xtreme Sports offers more value and features and that makes this motorcycle a better choice. For the same reason, the Indian consumers started opting for Xtreme Sports due to which the sales of the Xtreme reduced drastically.
The Xtreme is still listed on Hero MotoCorp’s official website. But expect it to go off the website once all the dealers clear the stock. The Xtreme was on sale since last 27 months, however, it failed to entice the market as there were better products like the Yamaha FZ which had set a very high standard in the 150cc commuter motorcycle segment. While the Xtreme Sport isn’t as tempting as the Japanese counterpart, it does a brilliant job on bad roads.
