- Leaked images reveal the new name for the scooter.
- Gets no other change.
- Expected to be launched in the next few weeks.
Hero had revealed its first 125cc scooter, the Duet 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Now, images from the dealer meet reveal that the production version will be rebadged as the Destini 125. Hero is known to rebadge its products for the international markets. This name change though could also be for the Indian market to distance the new 125 from the slow selling 110cc Duet.
The design of the Destini 125 is similar to the 110cc variant of the Duet 110 although with a premium appeal thanks to the addition of chrome. The Destini 125 gets an analogue speedometer with a small digital unit that displays odometer, fuel level, trip meter and service due indicator. Additional features include a side-stand warning and Hero's proprietary i3S (start-stop system) for better fuel efficiency.
Powering the scooter is a 124cc single-cylinder engine which produces 8.7bhp and 10.2Nm of torque. Hero is likely to offer a drum brake setup on both ends with a combined braking system (CBS) as option. We can expect the scooter to be launched in the next few weeks just in time for the festive season. It will compete against the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125 and is likely to be priced between Rs 50,000 to Rs 55,000.
