Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch its first set of new products this festive season, which will begin from next month. The first new products to make their way to the Indian market are two scooters – the Duet and the Dash.
Unveiled just before the 2014 Auto Expo, the Dash project is running behind schedule due to reasons unknown to us. But a source close to us have informed that soon after Marcus Braunsperger joined Hero MotoCorp from BMW Motorrad, he put certain projects in the backburner and asked his team to focus on developing something really good and fresh. The projects that were slowed down were the motorcycles under the Splendor brand and also some scooters. However, the top honchos at Hero MotoCorp want to focus on the scooter segment, due to its double digit growth over the last few years.
The Dash is an 110cc scooter, which looks quite attractive. It is loaded with features like the LED tail lamp, side stand indicator, USB mobile charger and service due indicator. This scooter will be targeted towards the youth, just like the Maestro. There are rumours also about a new scooter called the Maestro Edge that will be launched as well. In fact, there is a chance of the Maestro Edge being the rebadged Dash.
On the other hand, the Hero Duet will be marketed as a family scooter and will feature a metal body, telescopic front suspension, external fuel filling cap, tubeless tyres, integrated braking system, USB mobile charging and storage light. This scooter has been solely developed to take on the market leader – the Honda Activa 3G.
The Gurgaon-based manufacturer has launched only updated and facelifted models over the last 18 months. We are expecting more new products to roll out as soon as these two scooters are launched.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information on the new products from Hero MotoCorp.
