Hero Electric plans to export its two-wheelers from 2019. The target regions will include Asian and African countries, stated Naveen Munjal, managing director at Hero Electric.
The top honcho added that in the initial phase, the company foresees lesser exports as compared to the domestic sales. In India, Hero Electric managed to garner 30,000 customers for its electric scooters in the 2017-18 fiscal. It is expecting to see this figure double during the present fiscal. What's more, the company aims at boosting this to over one lakh units by the financial year 2020-21.
Apart from the export plan, the top official also talked about Hero Electric's plans to widen the dealership reach. Currently, the company has 450 dealerships across the country which is expected to expand to 900 showrooms. Moreover, it will also increase its production capacity at the Ludhiana plant along with setting up a new facility in south.
The current line-up of Hero Electric consists of five models – the Flash, Optima Plus, NYX, Photon and Cruz Li. The company is planning to consistently expand this portfolio by launching two new models each year.
