Hero Electric has silently discontinued the Cruz electric scooter. However, the Cruz Li has been introduced as its replacement at Rs 59,890 (ex-showroom New Delhi), which features a new lithium battery.
Hero electric had first launched the Optima and Photon electric scooters back in 2014 to provide a zero emission solution to urban mobility. Then, in 2016, they unveiled their lithium ion versions. Now, the Cruz Li features this lithium-ion battery, as against the AGM VRLA batteries which did duty on the older Cruz. The two-wheeler manufacturer says that the motor and battery packs have been specifically developed for the Indian weather and road conditions.
Now unlike the previous Photon Li sibling, which is a high-speed scooter and boasts of a top speed of 45kmph, the Cruz Li is a low speed scooter with a top-speed of 25kmph only. It gets a 20AH battery pack, that is half the size of the 40AH battery on the Photon Li. Nonetheless, the manufacturer claims that its battery is good for 1500 cycles. The peak motor output is 250W and the scooter has a range of 65km on a full charge.
The Hero Electric Cruz Li gets a trailing link suspension and comes equipped with drum brakes only. The other features include an anti-theft alarm and dual mode of power and economy. The company is offering a three-year warranty on the batteries and a life of five years. It should be noted that riding these electric scooters doesn’t require a license or a registration plate.
