Hero Electric has partnered with Bosch to source technology and powertrains for its range of e-scooters. The company is aiming to roll out at least two new products every year.
Hero Electric is planning to introduce Bluetooth connectivity for its future range, which would allow remote diagnostics of the e-scooter. They will also benefit from better performance with this move to more powerful powertrains and lithium ion batteries. While the fastest scooter in Hero Electric’s current line-up is restricted to 45kmph, the future range will be capable of 65kmph. The new powertrains will also help reduce maintenance costs, and a comprehensive three-year warranty will be offered by the company. The trade-off would be a higher sticker price, which could be anywhere between Rs 80,000 and 90,000, even after government subsidies.
Hero Electric is projecting India’s e-two wheeler sales to double from 24,000 units to 45,000 units per year, thanks to the initiatives rolled out by the government in this year’s budget. Under the Faster Adoption of Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) programme, the government has allocated Rs 175 crore in the form of subsidies for hybrids and electric vehicles. What with the subsidies and its talks to acquire new technology, Hero Electric seems bullish about improving its sales with the new range.
