Hero Electric and Mahindra Group announced a strategic five-year partnership of Rs 150 crore last month. As a part of this collaboration, two models of Hero Electric including the Optima and NYX will be manufactured at Mahindra's Pithampur plant. Now, in the recent update, Hero has rolled the first unit of the Optima out of Mahindra's Pithampur facility.
The partnership will not be limited to just Hero using Mahindra's factory but both the companies also plan to jointly develop and share the supply chain and the platform for electric vehicles. Furthermore, they'll also work concertedly on electrifying the Mahindra-owned brand, Peugeot Motorcycles, which plans to go big with its EVs in several countries, especially in Europe.
With this partnership, Hero Electric and Mahindra Group aim to share and utilise each other's R&D expertise to develop new technologies and products. These products will be churned out not just for India but also for the international markets. Under the partnership, Hero Electric intends to produce one million electric vehicles annually.
