Hero MotoCorp has established its stronghold in the 125cc motorcycle segment thanks to the resurgence of the Glamour and Super Splendor.
Both the Glamour and Super Splendor have been selling in excess of 80,000 units a month cumulatively, assisting Hero MotoCorp in consolidating its top rank in the Indian two-wheeler industry. Though the Hero Glamour has always been selling in decent numbers, the demand for the premium 125cc motorcycle has skyrocketed off late. While Hero sold just over 46,000 units of the motorcycle in November 2015, the number has burgeoned to over 80,000 in just six months. The demand for Glamour grew by 32 per cent, while the Super Splendor also witnessed an equally impressive 29 per cent growth in the first quarter of this fiscal year.
Earlier this week, Hero MotoCorp announced its financial results for the first quarter of this financial year. The company’s profits and sales have gone off the charts as the company set a new record for both the number of two-wheelers sold in a quarter as well as the net profits. While the Glamour and Super Splendor have indeed played a pivotal role in the company’s success, the Splendor and the Passion continue to be the top cash-cows for Hero MotoCorp.
