Hero MotoCorp has announced that it has sold more than one million HF Deluxe motorcycles in FY15. The company managed to sell a total of 10.93 lakh units, despite the slowing economy.
The HF Deluxe is targeted towards rural markets, where low budget two-wheelers are a priority. These markets also demand low cost of ownership and the HF Deluxe satisfies this requirement. This motorcycle is the third highest selling bike from the company’s portfolio, with the first and second one being the Splendor and the Passion respectively. While the Splendor managed to cross the 2.5 million sales in the last financial year, the Passion settled for 1.5 million units.
"HF Deluxe has remained the most popular entry-level bike in the country for a long time and it is no surprise that it has clocked over a million units in both dispatch and retail sales this year. Every second bike sold in this segment is now an HF Deluxe, with its market share in excess of as much as 70% in states such as Odisha and Chhattisgarh," said a top official to ET.
Hero MotoCorp is India’s number one two-wheeler manufacturer and it is able to stay at this position due to its high selling motorcycles like the Splendor, Passion and HF series. However, the company plans to move its focus to scooters for the current financial year because of the double digit growth.
