The facelifted 2016 model of the Hero Hunk has been spotted testing for the first time. The heavy camouflage on the test mule hints that the company might introduce a few cosmetic changes for the ageing 150cc commuter motorcycle.
The minor cosmetic changes for the new Hunk will include a redesigned headlamp and front fairing while the rest of the test mule’s components seem identical to the current model. The biggest update, though, is expected to be under the skin. Reports suggest that Hero is also planning to ditch the current powertrain in favour of a revamped engine, borrowed from the Xtreme Sports. This single-cylinder engine displaces 149cc, though, the power figure has been increased from 14.2bhp to 15.2bhp.
While the bump in power might not bring a big change in the Hunk’s performance, it should help in improving the throttle response and efficiency of the motorcycle. Though this test mule sported a drum brake for the rear tyre, we can expect the facelift to be available with the option of a rear disc brake, like the current model.
We can safely expect Hero to offer the new Hunk with a host of new paint schemes and decals. It will go up against other 150cc commuter bikes like the Suzuki GS150R, Honda CB Unicorn 160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160.
