After tasting some tremendous success in India, Hero MotoCorp wants to conquer the European markets. In order to do so, the company has showcased their quarter-litre motorcycle, the HX250R at the EICMA 2015 along with other new products.
First unveiled in India early this year, the HX250R is Hero’s first entry into the quarter litre motorcycle segment. Co-developed with Erik Buell Racing, the bike is expected to do well in Indian markets and with its intention to do business in other global markets especially Europe, the company registered the bike for trademark at the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market earlier this October.
The Hero HX250R is powered by a 249cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that produces 31bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 26Nm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and has been co-developed with Erik Buell Racing. The Gurgaon- based manufacturer could market this motorcycle as a beginner performance bike in Europe. However, there are some established brands like Honda and Kawasaki who have been doing business in the quarter litre segment since many years, with the Yamaha being the newest entrant with the R3.
