The HX250R has been one of the most anticipated launches from Hero MotoCorp. However, the company has remained tight-lipped about the launch of the bike that was unveiled almost a year ago. But we have managed to get few details from a close source.
Hero MotoCorp will price the HX250R below the KTM Duke 200. The KTM Duke 200 retails at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), making it the most affordable KTM one can buy in India. Hero MotoCorp plans to undercut this entry-level performance Austrian bike with the HX250R, their first quarter litre motorcycle. However, the company will keep the HX250R away from the Karizma ZMR, which is priced at Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The HX250R is powered by a four-stroke single cylinder liquid cooled 249cc engine that churns out 31bhp and has a peak torque of 26Nm. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Gurgaon-based manufacturer had said while unveiling the bike that the HX250R will feature two modes -eco and power but didn’t divulge the power cut-off details. However, as per our source, the eco mode will restrict the power at 24bhp, whereas the performance mode delivers 31bhp.
The HX250R looks stunning and is one of the best looking motorcycles Hero MotoCorp has ever developed. With an aggressive price tag and the company’s service reach, the HX250R could easily set the sales chart on fire. The launch date of the bike is still not confirmed, as Hero MotoCorp is in the process of giving it a new name.
