The Karizma motorcycles continue to be a big disappointment for Hero MotoCorp. The company managed to dispatch only seven units of the bikes to its dealers in June 2016.
In fact, in the last three months, the Karizma has failed to make its way to the showrooms as the dealers are not interested to stock up the bikes, due to no demand. The Gurgaon-based manufacturer sold 90 units of the Karizma in April, whereas the number rose to 118 units in May. However, these are the dispatch numbers from the factory. The actual sales from the showroom could be less.
A couple of months ago, we talked about Hero’s intention of not discontinuing the 223cc motorcycles. It looks like Hero MotoCorp doesn’t want to kill its flagship model due to bad reputation. Interestingly, the company is exporting the Karizma bikes to international markets and that has helped them keep the assembly line running. Also, it plans to launch the updated version of the Karizma R in the next couple of months. It was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, and just gets new paint schemes.
