- To be powered by a new 210cc engine
- Likely to be priced between Rs. 1.80-2 lakh
Hero MotoCorp is all set to bring back its iconic motorcycle brand, the Karizma, in India tomorrow, 29 August. This time around, it will come with the XMR suffix and will perhaps be completely new on all fronts.
Leaked images and teasers of the Hero Karizma XMR have revealed quite a bit about the motorcycle already. The company has dressed it up with a sporty, fully-faired bodywork that’s nothing like the first or second-generation Karizma. There’s an angry-looking front fascia with a wide LED headlamp that nestles within an angular, layered fairing. Completing its sporty look is a muscular fuel tank and a raked tail section. Contrary to its sporty aesthetics, the ergonomics of the bike are likely to be more comfortable than committed, despite the presence of a split seat and a clip-on handlebar.
Powering the Karizma XMR is a 210cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is speculated to churns out 25bhp and 30Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a six-speed gearbox and we hope Hero bestows it with a slipper clutch as well. On the hardware front, it incorporates 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by a single disc at both ends seemingly with a dual-channel ABS setup. Furthermore, the feature list comprises full LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled LCD console, USB charger, and more.
Our calculated guess indicates that the new Hero Karizma XMR will be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 1.80 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh, ex-showroom. It will compete against the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, Yamaha R15 V4, and Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
