The Hero Maestro Edge has been launched in India at Rs 49,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi in the guise of Hero Duet concept, the feature-loaded Maestro Edge has been developed as a premium scooter with focus on good looks and performance.
Though it retains the ‘Maestro’ moniker, the Maestro Edge is powered by a completely new engine jointly developed with Austrian automotive firm, AVL. This 111cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine delivers 8bhp and 8Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. The Maestro Edge’s riding dynamics get a boost with a telescopic suspension setup at the front. It rides on 12-inch front and a 10-inch rear alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres.
The Maestro Edge gets a host of features like USB charging, LED tail lamps, under seat storage lamp, engine immobiliser and an integrated braking system. Other utilitarian bits include a massive 22-litre under seat storage bay, front luggage hook, external fuel filler and a front inner box.
The Maestro Edge will be available in seven paint schemes – pearl silver white, panther black, shooting night star, candy blazing red, techno blue, matt vernier grey and matt blue. It will be available in two variants – LX and VX, with the latter being priced at Rs 50,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Maestro Edge competes with the Honda Activa 3G and the TVS Jupiter. Though dealerships have started accepting bookings for the Maestro Edge, deliveries of the scooter will commence on October 13.
