Hero MotoCorp has finally launched its most expensive and powerful motorcycle in India and that is the Mavrick 440. It is based on the Harley-Davidson X440, which is also developed and engineered by Hero. However, the Mavrick 440 is a more affordable version albeit with a host of changes. So, if you are planning to purchase one, here are five things you must know about the Hero Mavrick 440.
Design
The Hero Mavrick 440 appears more like a roadster and sports neo-retro design language. Elements like the round LED headlight, muscular fuel tank and sharp side panels add to the majority of Mavrick’s visual mass. You can purchase the new Hero 440cc bike in as many as five colour options – Arctic White, Fearless Red, Celestial Blue, Phantom Black, and Enigma Black. Moreover, the Mavrick 440 is available in three variants – Base, Mid, and Top. All three trims differ in terms of features, colour schemes, hardware, and price as well.
Features
Along with LED illumination, the Hero Mavrick 440 is also equipped with a fully digital console with smartphone connectivity for navigation along with SMS and call alerts. Bluetooth connectivity is exclusive to the top variant. Then, the bike also gets a Type C charging port for added convenience.
Engine
Powering the Hero Mavrick 440 is a 440cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine. This motor makes 27bhp and a peak torque of 36Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slipper clutch. The powertrain and its output figures for the Hero Mavrick are the same as its American counterpart.
Hardware
Unlike the X440’s USD front forks, the Mavrick 440 uses conventional telescopic front forks and a monoshock. Its brakes include a 320mm front and a 240mm rear disc mounted on 17-inch wheels. These are shoed with a 110/70 front and a 150/60 rear tyre. The Base variant gets spoked wheels with tubed tyres instead of alloys with tubeless units.
Price
The asking price for the Hero Mavrick 440 Base model is Rs. 1,99,000l, Rs. 2,14,000 for the Mid and Rs. 2,24,000 for the Top trim (all ex-showroom, pan India). This bike rivals the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Triumph Speed 400, and Harley-Davidson X440 in its segment.
