Hero MotoCorp will launch its most powerful motorcycle – the Mavrick 440 for the Indian market on 23 January. This is the first time the brand is entering the 400cc plus segment.
The name of the bike and the official launch date were revealed on Hero MotoCorp’s official social media channels. This new motorcycle will help the company enter the highly competitive and profitable premium 400cc segment, which currently is dominated by Bajaj, Royal Enfield and KTMs.
According to test mules, the Mavrick 440 will be aesthetically different from the Harley-Davidson X440. Both the bikes have been built on a common platform and hence will share the majority of the cycle parts. But to differentiate both the motorcycles, the body panels of the Mavrick will be different and have been designed to look like a roadster.
Powering the Mavrick will be a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, engine that makes 27bhp and 38Nm. The engine is linked to a five-speed gearbox. Moreover, the features listed on the Mavrick could include full LED illumination, a digital console with probable smartphone connectivity, dual-channel ABS, a USB port, and a side stand sensor. Along with the conventional forks and dual rear springs, the Mavrick will get a front and rear disc mounted on probable 17-inch wheels.
When it comes to the pricing, the Hero Mavrick 440 is likely to carry an introductory price tag of around Rs 1.7 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it will compete with the Honda CB300F, Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and the Jawa Standard.
