Hero MotoCorp recently launched its most premium offering yet, the Mavrick 440. We recently rode the bike and, as mentioned in our first ride review, found it quite likeable. However, if you are ready to consider a similar-priced alternative which offers a different flavour, here’s a quick list.
With a starting price of Rs. 1.93 lakh, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a quintessential retro-inspired offering with a thumper of an engine and an old-school British design. It’s a motorcycle that's all about feel with a torquey 350cc engine, upright riding ergonomics, metal-intensive bodywork, and a 19-18-inch spoke wheel combination. Some of its colour variants are also laden with chrome-finished parts and look stunning.
The Jawa 350 is another neo-retro offering that was recently launched by Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles. It draws design inspiration from the Type 353 of the bygone era with a long front fork, oval-shaped headlamp nacelle, teardrop-style fuel tank, and chunky fenders. However, the USP of the bike is its smooth and punchy 334cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 22.26bhp and 28.1Nm. It is priced at Rs. 2.14 lakh.
If you intend to occasionally hit the trails on your motorcycle, besides commuting and touring, the Yezdi Scrambler is an enticing offering. As eye-catching as it looks, it’s equally capable off the road with a 19-17-inch spoke wheel combination, long-travel suspension, and a decent ground clearance of 200mm. Moreover, its 334cc engine offers great mid-range drive and churns out 28.7bhp and 28.2Nm with a six-speed gearbox.
The KTM 200 Duke is a stark contrast to the aforementioned motorcycles with a peaky engine performance and sharp handling dynamics. With a trellis frame, WP Apex suspension setup, and 17-inch alloy wheels, the 200 Duke is a hoot around corners. Furthermore, its 199.5cc, liquid-cooled engine, which makes 24.67bhp and 19.3Nm, likes to revved hard. It sets you back by Rs. 1.97 lakh.
