Hero MotoCorp has registered a 13 per cent growth in February as compared to the corresponding period in 2015. The Gurgaon-based company consolidated its position as the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world by selling over 5.5 lakh motorcycles and scooters in the last month.
What is remarkable about this feat is that Hero MotoCorp managed to clock the significant growth in spite of the production and despatch being impacted by the recent agitation in Haryana. The Splendor continues to be most popular model range for the company, selling over 1.99 lakh units in February 2016. Among scooters, the recently launched Maestro Edge has turned out to be a big success, selling over 48,000 units.
Last month, Hero demonstrated its technological prowess by unveiling four new models. While the three of these were futuristic concepts, the Splendor iSmart 110 was a production ready model. Being the company’s first ever indigenously developed motorcycle, the Splendor iSmart 110 is quite an important model for Hero MotoCorp. It is expected to go on sale in April, as a rival to the Honda Livo and the TVS Victor.
