The Hero Dash was first showcased in India during the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, though for some reason, the company hasn’t launched it in India, yet. And while Hero MotoCorp continues to be tight-lipped about the Dash’s launch date, reports indicate that the company has already started production of the unisex scooter at its Gurgaon facility.
Quoting an anonymous source, a report says that Hero MotoCorp has temporarily suspended the production of the Maestro scooter to make room for the Dash. Till recently, Hero MotoCorp used to manufacture around 1,400 units of the Maestro in a day, though it has now been stopped to manufacture the first batch of the Dash scooter. Initially, Hero MotoCorp will sell both the Dash and the Maestro side by side, though the former will be phased out eventually. As the Maestro is a Honda product, Hero has to give payoffs to the Japanese manufacturer under a royalty agreement, which was recently extended till June 2017.
The Dash is powered by a 111cc single-cylinder engine, which is also used in the Maestro. This four-stroke engine delivers 8.4bhp and 9.4Nm of torque through a CVT gearbox. The Dash gets some premium features like LED tail lamps, a USB mobile charger and telescopic suspension at the front. The digital-analogue instrument cluster also integrates a side stand indicator and a service due indicator.
Once launched, the Hero Dash will rival the other 110cc scooters like the Honda Activa 3G, Yamaha Ray and the TVS Jupiter.
