Hero MotoCorp has developed three new engines at their own R&D center in India, which will power their existing and future two wheelers. Currently all the Hero bikes sold in India are powered by their former Japanese partner, Honda.
The company has claimed that their new engines have better performance and also efficiency as compared to any other motor available in India. The new 110cc engine will be used in the current range of motorcycles, whereas the 100cc engine is specifically designed for the Nigerian market.
Hero MotoCorp didn’t give much information on its new 250cc engine, but it’s likely the company will be using this engine to power the Karizma ZMR 250. The motorcycle will be showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, while the actual launch will happen later in the year.
"We have fired three new engines, and we have done these ourselves. Each of these engines performs much better than our existing engines, and they are very fuel-efficient, the efficiency being higher than any bike currently running on Indian roads," said Pawan Munjal, CEO & MD, Hero MotoCorp.
