Hero MotoCorp has forayed into the world of rally racing with Speedbrain GmbH - a German off-roading specialist . Both the companies have joined hands to participate in Dakar rally in 2017.
Hero Motorsports Team Rally is the name of the team and the riders for the job are CS Santosh and Joaquim Rodriques. The team will be riding the upgraded version of the Speedbrain 450 rally bike and the Merzouga Rally in Morocco that’ll be held from May 21 to 27 and will be the first of the Dakar race series. This new team will also participate in the international rallies across the world, leading up to the Dakar 2017.
“In the past, we have rapidly expanded our global footprint and also made significant investments in enhancing our R&D capabilities. Motorsport is a natural progression for us, as it will allow us to bring value-added products with top-of-the-line technology for our millions of customers. This initiative is also reflective of our consistent support to sports and sportspersons. I welcome Santosh and Joaquim on board and wish them all the very best," said Pawan Munjal, CEO, Hero MotoCorp.
This is a brilliant development coming from the world’s largest bike maker. In fact, Hero isn’t new to the world of motorsport racing. Its team Hero EBR did a short stint at the WSBK before Erik Buell Racing ran out of funds. With this new motorsport foray, we wish both, the team and the riders good luck. Okay now, when can we see the Impulse 250, Hero?
