Few days ago, we wrote about Tiger Woods, who became the global brand ambassador of Hero MotoCorp, for which he was paid a whooping Rs 250 crore for four years. But like we mentioned in that article, golf is not an accessible sport for everyone, and someone from the football world would have been more practical and looks like Hero MotoCorp is already working towards it.
It’s been reported that the Gurgaon-based manufacturer is in talks to sign James Rodriguez as one of their brand ambassadors. The Real-Madrid mid-fielder, who also plays for Colombia was tagged as one of the best performers in the 2014 World Cup. The company is currently in the final stages of signing the contract with him and once it’s done, he might be seen promoting Hero MotoCorp products in Colombia.
Just recently, the company entered the Colombian market with six motorcycles and have plans to setup a manufacturing unit in the country. Once operational, the Colombian factory will be the first manufacturing facility outside India. Hero MotoCorp wants to tap James Rodriguez’s popularity in Colombia, which is needed as it is betting big on this market. Being one of the largest two-wheeler markets in Latin America, Colombia already has Indian two-wheelers manufacturers like Bajaj selling its bikes there.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more updates from the Gurgaon-based manufacturer.
