Hero MotoCorp has roped in a new R&D head from BMW. Markus Braunsperger has been associated with the German auto major for a long time, heading the R&D function for BMW's Motorcycle division for several years. A biking enthusiast, Braunsperger has worked at senior positions across BMW's R&D, production and strategy divisions.
Along with the motorcycle association, Markus was also responsible for project management for BMW’s 5,6,7 as well as the X3,X5 and the X7 models. Markus is expected to join the Gurgaon-based manufacturer in the first week of October and will report directly to Pawan Mujal, vice chairman, Hero MotoCorp.
Hero MotoCorp has been slowly but gradually roping in the best experts to lead their important divisions. Last year, Hero MotoCorp hired Markus Feichtner from Austrian firm AVL to lead the engine design and development division of the company.
Looks like Hero MotoCorp is very serious about maintaining its lead position in the Indian two wheeler market. With expat heads, we can expect to see some global design for their motorcycles, scooters and even hybrids.
