Hero MotoCorp has confirmed that it is open to acquiring a full-fledged two-wheeler company if their business and future strategy requires it. The company that has setup technology partnership with few international companies is going very aggressive with their future lineup.
They feel that finding more technology partners is an ongoing and continuous process. The Gurgaon based manufacturer has acquired 49.2 per cent stake in Erik Buell Racing (EBR) for 25 million dollar. It has also tied up with Austria based engine developed AVL and Italian two-wheeler design firm Engines Engineering to develop its future line of products.
"We have not stopped efforts to find technology partners, it is an ongoing process. We are open to acquiring companies," said Pawan Munjal, managing director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp.
"We are not aggressively scouting for one at the moment but if some target comes on the way, we will surely look at it," he added.
If Hero MotoCorp ever decides to acquire a two-wheeler company, it is very likely it will be from outside India. Companies like Bajaj, TVS, Royal Enfield, are completely out of question as they are sitting on a huge pile of cash and can easily manage to grow in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
