It is no secret that Hero MotoCorp is working on a range of new two wheelers, which includes futuristic products like the iOn. But there’s hardly any information about its technological advancements, until now.
Hero MotoCorp has developed a new navigation system for two wheelers, as per sources. This system is integrated with the bike’s instrument cluster and is limited to basic instructions for left, right and straight direction changes. The system will also show the approximate time and distance to the next turn. While this navigation system sounds really cool for a motorcycle, it is not a full-fledged system but one like the navigation system on the Tata Tiago. The rider must connect his smartphone to this navigation system through Bluetooth and then key in the destination on his/her smartphone. The navigation system on the motorcycle will help the rider reach the destination by providing the directional changes.
This system also has the ability to change the colour and size of the turn indicators depending on how close the rider gets to the next turn. It also supports voice command for input and there’s also a speaker on the cluster which gives voice prompts to the rider. This navigation system has been developed to run on all smartphones, however, the primary development focus is for Android and iOS phones.
The Gurgaon-based manufacturer will introduce this navigation system on its upcoming adventure bike which is expected to hit the Indian market in the next two years. We tried getting in touch with the manufacturer for further details, however their response was still pending at the time of publication of this news article.
