Hero MotoCorp has registered a five per cent decline in sales in December 2015. The company moved out 4.99 lakh two-wheelers in the last month as opposed to the 5.26 lakh units it sold in the corresponding period in 2014.
Despite the significant drop in sales, these numbers were strong enough to help Hero MotoCorp retain its top spot in the Indian as well as global two-wheeler industry. The company’s commuter motorcycle range as well the new scooters have been generating good volumes, though the same cannot be said about the executive and premium motorcycles.
Hero MotoCorp is rumoured to be in the process of developing new motorcycles in these lucrative segments. These will be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, next month. Hero MotoCorp has also been promoting its brand overseas by sponsoring sports tournaments like the Caribbean Premier League (cricket) and the Hero World Challenge (golf).
