Hero MotoCorp has begun construction of its new research and development center at Kukas, near Jaipur in Rajasthan. The company will be investing Rs 450 crore for this new facility that is expected to create a pool of global talent that will play a very important role in the company’s future product development.
The new R&D facility will house around 600 engineers from across the world and is being built with international standards. It will be operational by the first quarter of 2015 and will also develop products that will make its presence in international markets.
The Gurgaon based manufacturer has also announced manufacturing facility in more than 20 different locations across the world by 2020. In order to accomplish this, the company needs to have a new line of products that will be sold in international markets. With this new R&D facility, the company has taken a big step in achieving this goal but still a long way to go.
"Kukas is going to be on the global map with a truly international centre of excellence, not just in terms of its design, development, testing and validation facilities but also in terms of the diversified pool of human talent from all over the world," said Pawan Munjal, managing director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp.
"We will acquire the best of global talent to build a truly multi-cultural, multi-national set up here, which will also play the role of a catalyst in nurturing multi-faceted local talent through knowledge sharing," he added.
