Few months ago, we were the first and the only ones to report about Hero MotoCorp’s new product, called the Duet that was under development. This scooter never made it to the 2014 Auto Expo, because the product wasn’t ready.
Last week, Hero MotoCorp showcased the Duet scooter for the first time to its dealers at a dealer meet that was held in Rome, Italy. Along with the Duet, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer showcased a new variant of the Maestro, called the Maestro Edge.
The Hero Duet will be marketed as a family scooter and will be loaded with features. The Duet comes with a metal body, telescopic front suspension, external fuel filling cap, tubeless tyres, integrated braking system, USB mobile charging and storage light. The Duet will compete with the Honda Activa 3G, the highest selling scooter in India.
Few days ago, a close source said that the company is following Yamaha’s strategy, where it will focus majorly on scooters for the current financial year. While there is no information on the Maestro Edge, we believe it could either be a rebadged Dash or a completely new scooter. The same source mentioned about Hero MotoCorp’s new R&D chief Marcus Braunsperger who has decided to put the motorcycle launches in the bacburner till they develop something revolutionary and something that will be appreciated by the young audience, unlike the Splendors and the Passions.
