Hero Motocorp has sent the first allotments of the updated Karizma and Karizma ZMR to selected dealerships. According to our sources, the Karizma R is priced at Rs 93,500 and the ZMR is priced at Rs 1,18,000.
The revamped Karizma and ZMR were unveiled late last year and both the motorcycles get cosmetic as well as mechanical updates. The changes to the exteriors include restyled body panels, new headlamps, DRLs and revised tail lamps.
Both the motorcycles also get minor updates to their engines. The Karizma R is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, 223 cc engine which now produces 19.2bhp of power and 19.35Nm of torque in comparison to the previous version which produced 17.2bhp of power and 18.35Nm of torque. The motorcycle now does the 0-60kmph sprint in 3.6 seconds, a 0.2 second faster than the previous model.
The Karizma ZMR is powered by the same engine as the Karizma R, but the ZMR is fuel-injected whereas the R is carburetted. The motor on the ZMR is tuned to produce 20bhp of power and 19.7Nm of torque which is a good boost from an earlier power output of 17.8bhp of power and 18.35Nm of torque.
The direct competitor to these motorcycles is the Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the bikes will also face competition from the upcoming Pulsar SS200.
Hero MotoCorp showcased its entire range of models at the 2014 Auto Expo, including these updated motorcycles. The company has created a considerable excitement amongst potential buyers and is all set to launch newer versions of the existing models.
