Hero MotoCorp has started the despatch of the Splendor Pro Classic and the first batch of the motorcycle has been spotted at a dealership. The company hasn’t officially launched the Splendor Pro Classic yet and even the owner of the dealership is oblivious of its price. Internet chatter had earlier revealed that the motorcycle will be priced at Rs 53,900, though the company hasn’t confirmed it yet.
Based on the company’s best-selling commuter motorcycle, the Splendor, the Splendor Pro Classic is styled to look like a traditional cafe racer motorcycle. The motorcycle has been comprehensively updated with classic styling cues like a new handle bar, which has been designed to resemble clip-ons, a round headlamp and tail lamp and a cafe racer styled fuel tank. The rear-view mirrors, headlamp ring, front and rear fenders, suspension and the silencer are garnished in chrome.
The Splendor Pro Classic continues to employ the tried and tested air-cooled 97.2cc single-cylinder engine which produces 7.7bhp and 8.4Nm of torque through a four-speed gearbox.
While the idea for the Splendor Pro Classic was clearly inspired by Royal Enfield’s Continental GT cafe racer, the steep price tag makes it beyond the reach of a majority of Indian customers. However, Hero MotoCorp is known to price its products very competitively which should bring this interesting concept within the grasp of the masses.
