Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is expecting its sales to breach the six lakh mark during the 40 days of the festive season around Diwali. Speaking at the SIAM convention in Delhi, Mr. Pawan Munjal, the vice chairman and MD of Hero Motocorp said that they are optimistic about beating their last year’s volumes with the help of a slew of launches planned in the coming month.
The Delhi-based manufacturer has lined up around a dozen new launches, a majority of which are facelifts of current models. The festive season usually sees sales of two-wheelers grow by leaps and bounds as manufacturers cash in on the positive public sentiment. Mr Munjal said, "We are looking at higher sales volume during the festive season this year as compared with the last year."
While the manufacturer’s fourth manufacturing plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan became functional this June, Mr Munjal revealed that their new plant in Gujarat will start operating from the third quarter of the next financial year. The negotiations for a new plant in south India as well as their plans to enter Argentina are at an advanced stage and the company is also planning to enter the Brazilian market.
On the contrary to what the critics had predicted, Hero MotoCorp, since its split with its long time joint venture partner Honda, has beaten all odds to retain its position in the Indian market. Hero MotoCorp has been aggressively expanding its footprint across the country as well as other global markets.
